Google Docs to Markdown or HTML

This section explains how to convert a single Google Docs to Markdown or HTML format or bulk convert more than one Google Docs to Markdown or HTML format.

Converting a Single Google Docs to Markdown or HTML

  1. Open the Google Docs you want to convert to Markdown/HTML

  2. Launch the Docs to Markdown Pro add on using the Extensions -> Docs to Markdown Pro -> Convert Docs to Markdown or HTML option

  3. The Docs to Markdown sidebar will be displayed

  4. Click on the To Markdown or To HTML option

The Google Docs will be converted accordingly and the output will be displayed in the text box and if you have selected auto download option, the output file will be downloaded automatically

Bulk Converting Google Docs to Markdown or HTML

  1. Open a new Google Sheet (opens in a new tab)

  2. Launch the Docs to Markdown Pro add on using the Extensions -> Docs to Markdown Pro -> Bulk convert Docs to Markdown or HTML option

  3. The Docs to Markdown sidebar will be displayed

  4. Click on the Create Template option. The necessary columns headers will be created in the current sheet

  5. Click on the Select Google Docs Option. The Google File picker will be displayed. Select the desired Google Docs that needs to be converted to Markdown or HTML and click Ok. The selected documents will be added into the sheet

  6. Click on the To Markdown or To HTML option

  7. The selected Google Docs will be converted to Markdown or HTML and the link to the output file will be added in the Output URL column.

  8. The Status column will be updated accordingly. If the conversion was successful, the status will be set to "Converted to Markdown", Else it will be set to "Conversion Error".

Note: When bulk converting, the rows with the status value "Converted to Markdown" will not be considered for conversion. Only the blank status and any other value will be considered for conversion.
